An announcement from Let's End Poverty
Let’s End Poverty will finish its current work at the end of May 2025.
Since October 2023, Let’s End Poverty has united a diverse range of voices behind a shared, positive, vision-filled message that poverty in the UK can and should end. A collaboration between individuals, churches, charities and unions, we have worked together to make ending poverty a primary issue at the 2024 UK general election by increasing public pressure on political leaders.
Now that the election has passed, Let’s End Poverty as funded by The Methodist Church for two years will end.
We celebrate that over the last 18-months Let’s End Poverty has built up collaborations between more than 80 groups and organisations, hundreds of leaders and thousands of individual activists. We have spoken to our neighbours, taken action with our faith and community groups, and reached local politicians, MPs, government Ministers and even the Prime Minister. We have used art to spark conversation, amplified the voices of our communities at events and shared lived experiences in the Houses of Parliament. There are impacts we can measure, and many more that are intangible but just as valuable. We have demonstrated that across the UK, our communities believe that tackling and ultimately ending poverty must be a political priority.
Thank you for the part you have played in this collective action. Whether you have hosted or attended an event, engaged with your election candidates, written to your MP or joined a campaign for the very first time, you have made a difference.
Whatever your involvement, we hope you will join our celebration event on Thursday 22nd May 7-8.30pm, as we gather online to celebrate and give thanks for all that Let’s End Poverty has achieved.
Longer term work to strengthen the movement to end poverty in the UK will continue, led by many of the organisations and grassroots partners involved in Let’s End Poverty. The level of poverty in the UK remains morally unacceptable, and we urgently need to work together to build a better future for our communities. We are more aware than ever that the path towards ending poverty must be shaped by the wisdom and leadership of communities who are living with the on-going struggle against poverty. As we continue to journey together, we will use the learning and opportunities Let’s End Poverty has produced to strengthen our ability to create urgent and long-lasting change.
Together, we will continue to stand for a future where poverty can’t keep anyone down.

FAQs
Why is Let’s End Poverty finishing?
Let’s End Poverty was launched in October 2023, with fixed term funding from The Methodist Church to mobilise collaborations in response to the 2024 UK General Election. Now that the election has happened, Let’s End Poverty in its current form will finish at the end of May 2025.
A group of grassroots leaders are forming a ‘caretaker’ group for Let’s End Poverty, who will work behind the scenes to identify whether there are any future opportunities for Let’s End Poverty to operate as a coordinating space for anti-poverty movement building activities.
Can I keep using the Let’s End Poverty logo and brand for events?
‘Let’s End Poverty’ is a call to action that isn’t owned by any one group or individual – it’s a task for us all to take on! You can continue to use the Let’s End Poverty name to show your support for an end to poverty in the UK. Central communications platforms for Let’s End Poverty will make it clear that Let’s End Poverty is not currently being coordinated by a group or organisation.
What will happen to the website?
The website and the resources it hosts will continue to be available for a time. You can download and use resources to keep up your activities to amplify the need to end poverty in the UK. After a time, if no future activities are planned for Let’s End Poverty by the caretaker group, the website will be removed.
Can we still use our Let’s End Poverty banner?
Yes! If you bought a Let’s End Poverty banner to put outside your church or community building, this is yours to use however you like. It’s a great way to demonstrate your continued commitment to ending poverty in the UK.
But poverty in the UK is still at an unacceptable level – how do I stay involved with campaigns to end poverty?
